If you have a project coming up that needs high quality printing, say wedding photos or term papers, or a big proposal for some darn board, you may not want to rely on the home or office standby printer. The unfortunate fact is that a lot of the mass produced printers bundled into cubicle or home computer packages (which often use Dell toner or HP cartridges) are low quality and tend to badly err towards inconsistent printing and software glitches.
If you have a high quality personal printer then this doesn’t affect you. But if you are like most people and don’t have so much time or energy to invest in buying a 10 thousand grand printer and toner of the same price you may want to consider other options. The simple option is to run out and buy a new toner cartridge—the original stuff, no imitations. These rarely fail and the ink quality from the get go should be great, although you may want to print a test page or two before you plug in your whole project.
There are also commercial options. If you have a large project, say pictures, you may want to turn to a drug store. These also have wonderful poster printing options. Otherwise membership stores (costco, Sams club) will often have professional grade printers for their members to use.
If you are more into book publishing consider a small business printer. These specialize in book binding and printing and have the software, hardware, and know-how to get the job done. Self publishing options are great if you are going for a traditional bound book look.
